W. E. WILLIAMS Sculptor, Artist, Lovespoon Carver   This display shows the influence of Dylan Thomas’ words of poetry on the work of renowned Sculptor and Woodcarver, W. Edwin Williams. From the pictorial* to the more emotional* each is a unique piece of artwork expressed in the form of a Welsh lovespoon .

Each design influenced by the words of Dylan Thomas’ poems, Including ‘Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night’, ‘Should Lanterns Shine’, ‘The Hunchback in The Park’(‘in the fountain basin where I sailed my ship’), ‘The Hand That Signed The Paper’ and ‘Death Shall Have No Dominion’ .

A wonderful opportunity to see how the words of Dylan Thomas can have such an influence on the work of other artists. These designs are at The Lovespoon Gallery in Mumbles during June and July 2014 , this has now been extended until the end of the year.

When New York artist, David Slivka came to Swansea in 2003 to present the City with one of 5 bronze Death Masks of his friend Dylan Thomas, it was W. Edwin Williams he went to see as a fellow artist. The City commissioned a gift to be made by Edwin which was presented to David Slivka at the Dylan Thomas Centre in Swansea.
